What is Tŷ Ni

Fundamentally, it’s about creating community in our own shared-use space for recreation, relaxation, coworking, socialising, and more. We are not for profit, we just aim to make enough to cover our bills.

Tŷ Ni means “our house” in Welsh – a place where we can coexist and grow together. Think, coffee-shop vibes during the day, and self-organised events in the evenings & weekends: where you can feel comfortable knowing you’re part of a space and community with a set of shared principles and no pressure to spend money to keep hanging out there.

We are on the Splott-Adamsdown border (Pearl Place). We have a living-room-hall, industrial-style kitchen, cosy mezzanine, and a roof terrace. Accessibility notes: the venue has a steep flight of outdoor stairs for access (and further stairs inside), and there is no car parking available.

Additionally, since we are in a residential neighbourhood, we close at 10pm latest.

How does attendance work?

We are a members club where everyone pays a monthly fee for access; this is how pay our rent and bills. This means we can sell food and drinks at wholesale price (e.g. tea is free!), or you can bring your own guilt-free (we don’t sell alcohol but you are welcome to bring your own to events).

We have a Full membership (unlimited access) and Casual membership (up to 4 visits a month).

What goes on here?

People can use the space how they want – hang out casually for coffee chats, co-work during the day, drinks in the evenings, board games, read a book ….

There are also events run by members including group boardgames, yoga classes, shared meals, pole fitness, film nights, and other community events. It’s up to the hosting member how to organise (free or paid, number of attendees etc.) and once you’re a member you can host your own events too!
